Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
Word Chain Climb is made by Zoran Turk. This policy explains what happens to your information when you play it and when you visit this website.
- No account
Your progress is saved on your device.
- No game analytics
I run no analytics, so I never see how you play.
- No tracking
The game never asks to track you.
- Game Center
Only if you're signed in: your scores and badges go to Apple's Game Center.
Who is responsible
The controller of the personal data described here, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is Zoran Turk. You can reach me at games.zcode@outlook.com.
Apple, whose service the game uses, decides for itself how it uses the data it receives, under its own privacy policy.
No tracking
The game never shows Apple's prompt asking to track you. Under Apple's rules, an app, and the code from other companies inside it, may track you only with your permission through that prompt. Tracking means linking what they learn in the app with data from other companies' apps and websites to target ads or for advertising measurement, or sharing it with data brokers. The game never asks for that permission, and it never combines anything about you with other companies' data itself.
Game Center
Game Center is Apple's service for leaderboards and achievements. When the game starts, it offers Apple's Game Center sign-in. You can play without signing in, and sign in or out at any time in your device's Settings app. While you're signed in:
- When you solve today's daily during its own puzzle day, its score goes to the daily leaderboard, "Today's climb", which starts over with each daily. Game Center keeps your best for the day. The score combines your steps over par and your time. Practice and the Archive send no score. If you win while signed out, the game keeps today's score and sends it if you sign in later that day.
- The badges you earn, 12 in all, are reported as Game Center achievements.
- To show your rank on the Win screen, the game loads your own entry on today's leaderboard from Game Center: your rank, your score and how many players are on it. Game Center also sends the top player's entry, which the game doesn't use. It keeps them only while the game is open and doesn't save them.
- The game saves your Game Center player ID with your progress, and sends this device's scores and badges only to the player they belong to.
Your scores and achievements are kept by Apple, tied to your Game Center account, and other players can see your leaderboard entry as your Game Center settings allow. Apple handles them under its own privacy policy, at apple.com/legal/privacy. The game doesn't send them to me.
What stays on your device
The game saves your progress in its own storage on your device: your daily and practice results, games in progress, your streak and freezes, the badges you've seen, your settings, today's score waiting for Game Center, if any, and, if you've signed in to Game Center, your Game Center player ID. The game sends none of it to me or to anyone else, beyond what Game Center receives as described above. The game has no account of its own.
Deleting the game deletes this data; there's no other way to clear it. If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, the backup includes it, as it does other apps' data.
Statistics from Apple
If you've turned on Share With App Developers in your device's settings, Apple shares crash reports and usage statistics with developers, in a form that doesn't identify you. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
This website
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data about each visit, such as your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for. Cloudflare does this as my processor, under its data processing terms. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, tracking or ads. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself, not from third parties, and its own small scripts only run the puzzle on the home page and send nothing.
If you email me
Email to this address goes to a mailbox at Outlook.com, Microsoft's email service, which stores and handles it under Microsoft's own privacy statement. I receive your email address and whatever you write, and I use them only to answer you and to fix what you report. I keep the conversation for as long as that takes and delete it if you ask. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Data outside the EU
Cloudflare and Microsoft may process data in the United States and other countries outside the EU. Both are certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as protecting data transferred to the United States. Apple explains how it protects data it transfers in its own privacy policy.
Children
Word Chain Climb is made for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child's data has reached me, write to me and I'll delete it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, and the UK GDPR if you are in the UK, you have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form.
The game's save isn't sent to me, and you can delete it yourself by deleting the game. Your scores and achievements are held by Apple; I don't hold them and can't change them. To use your rights over them, contact Apple at apple.com/legal/privacy/contact. For anything else, write to me.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or work.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top. A change to what the game collects will be posted before the version that brings it is released.
